The AMEE category /embodied/clm/transport contains data on the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the transportation of food, sourced from the Centre for Agriculture and Environment (CLM). See here for more details of the source and methodology used in deriving this dataset.

How to use this category

Choosing a specific emissions scenario

To make greenhouse gas emissions using this category, specify the transportation type and subtype using the type and subtype drill choices. A final drill choice represents the geographic region of packaging production. There is currently only one region represented ('europe (netherlands)') and therefore this choice does not have to be explicitly made in order to identify a specific data item. It is best practise, however, to specify this explicitly using the geographicalRegion drill choice.

Specifying activity data

Greenhouse gas emissions, according to this methodology are proportionate to the quantity and distance fo food transported. These values must therefore be specified using the mass and distance profile item values.

Results and calculation

The returned amount represents CO2e emissions associated with these specified quantities.
